321 : Seams

Seams has just finished touring with our buds Gold Panda and Dam Mantle. Three dudes using weird boxes to make awesome noises. Does that mean it’s a scene? Probably not, but it already has a handful of ridiculous names: eccentronica, reflectro, glitzsche, heavy heartcore. Hmmm. Seams told us about metric modulation and an early brush with stardom.

1. “When I was 4 I was on Casualty.”
2. “My name was Sam and my dad was a pot smoker. I ate his stash, and he had to lie about it, I just had to giggle lots.”
3. “On the set I played Snakes & Ladders with Duffy, can’t remember who won. That’s the character mind, not the singer…”
1.“Battles – SZ2. I love how this track slowly builds from something that sounds like it’s falling apart into something so rhythimically complex and tight. It bridges the gap between an articifical production and a band in a room perfectly. And I’m always a sucker for metric modulation, think this is the first track I heard it in.”

2.“Kelis – Acapella. The vocals in this track are amazing, so simple, but when the harmonies hit, you gotta rock out. No idea what the video is about though, she looks like she’s dressed up as Bowser or something…”

1. “I wish I could get away with just playing Nintendo all day, and making hip hop all night.”
Seams’ debut single is out soon on Tough Love Records.
