321 : Hot Horizons

Hot Horizons make their grand, breathlessly romantic pop in the strangest of places as Rory from the band explains. “We recorded this song recently with a friend of ours, Sam Eastgate [of Late Of The Pier] and spent half the time recording in this mad stairway which looked like it was stolen from the 1920s or a cruise-ship. We loved the sound of the place.” We spoke to these bright young things about the enduring influence of Cordozar Calvin Broadus.

1. “Our first gig had a rule whereby you could get in a pound cheaper if you had a moustache.”

2. “Half of the tracks on our song, Spoken were recorded in an empty stairway that looked like it was taken from the Titanic.”

3. “I once read that all Native Americans are lactose-intolerant, though I’m not sure if that’s actually true.”

1.“Damian Marley and Nas – As We Enter. I am digging this song hard at the moment, can’t wait for Distant Relatives, the album. Those two work ridiculously well with each other.”

2.“Snoop Dogg – Ain’t No Fun (If The Homies Cant Have None) (feat. Nate Dogg, Warren G and Kurupt). Snoop does it again, such subtle lyrics, such a heartwarming topic. We’re constantly influenced by the Dogg’s dulcet tones.”
