321 : Arch M

The first time we heard Arch M‘s majestic 21st Union we thought, wow, this is just like our favourite daydream, the one where we’re racing dune buggies with Bushwick Bill on a beach made of marshmallow. The second time we heard it we thought, what songs does Arch M AKA Corey Reid like? Does he hate Nickleback? What does he know about worms? All this and more, after the jump.
Corey Reid: “1. Worms cannot swim.
2. Contrary to popular belief, worms do not regenerate.
3. The largest species of earthworms reach 3 meters in length and are only found in Gippsland, Australia.”
CR: “I love Sacred Flower by Bootsy Collins. 80s production was ridiculous. The slap/synth bass combination works wonders on this song and contributes to the general sleaziness. And the lyrics hit on so many notes. The sacred flower can be one of many things; he lets you decide. Also, the Jimi Hendrix style ad libs make me wonder.

“I hate anything by the band Nickelback… Or anything by any of the bands that
utilize those ‘I’m country at heart, but still mingle with city folk’ vocals.”
CR: “I wish i was on the beach drinking a sparks.”
Arch M’s LP Moontan is out in spring. Moontan 2 will follow sometime after. For now you can download a teaser, the Mountain Tan Cassette. Arch M is playing a show with David Grubbs on Jan 22nd at the Luminaire.
