It's been an awesome year here at Pinglewood. Thanks to
you all for reading. There won't be any lists here, but we've catalogued Little
Boots videos for FADER's Listmania 2008 and written about stuff
we've liked for the NME (it's not up
yet, but we'll put a link here when it appears). To end the year we've plundered
Banjo
Or Freakout's amazing blog for something seasonally appropriate, while the
last song of the night is a disco classic, reworked by Hot Coins
for a great new Tirk compilation. See you in a couple of
weeks!
Banjo Or Freakout, who left Italy for England, has a new single out soon (buy it!) and a free EP on his blog. But don't worry, Italians. Cosmic forces have rebalanced the dream pop universe. BOF's pal His Clancyness has beamed in from Ottowa, and is transmitting gorgeous, lilting lullabies from his Bologna base. Unfortunately, this means Canada is now considerably less dream poppy. Sorry, Canadians.
For months we have been terrifying our neighbours with Gentle
Friendly's riotous noise-pop, and yet somehow they've only just released their debut EP. You can read about it at our new NME
blog and after the jump David from the band tells us about his neverending food
adventure and the wonder of Kate Bush. [Continues...]
They don't understand that Danny Dyer is the
new Laurence Olivier, but Kitsune's
latest signings, Chew
Lips, do know a thing or two about soaring, heartfelt casio-pop. You can read about them at our
new NME blog
and after the jump James from the band answers our three questions. [Continues...]
Hopefully writing about Teengirl Fantasy will get us lots of traffic from sweaty dudes with laptops resting on their chests. Sorry, onanists! Teengirl Fantasy make starry electronic dreamscapes not badly lit homemade vids. After the jump Logan and Nick from the band answer our three questions. [Continues...]
Nathan Williams AKA Wavves is hitting the road. "I will be touring around the world from February until the end of May. I will be basically everywhere," he says. If you like any of these things: shredding/pop/dirt/melody/hats/stuff that is awesome/sunshine/life, then you should go and see him. After the jump he tells us about Cops, warrants and the Philosopher of Soul. [Continues...]
Aeroplane are two magnificent men with a disco machine. We spoke to one of
them, the awesome Stephen Fasano, for our new
NME blog, and made sure he answered our three little questions. After the jump
he tells about epic synths, the Beach Boys and missing calls from Grace Jones. [Continues...]
When he's not talking about Lanvin trainers or his girlfriend leaving or the Muppets or his mother's death
or autotune or Patrick Bateman or the paparazzi or Connect 4 or Princess Diana, Kanye is turning zeitgeist
girls into rap hooks. On this leaked song from the Notorious soundtrack it's Santogold's turn, but who's next? Rye Rye? Lykke
Li? Little Boots? Our money is on pixie foghorn Diana
Vickers.
