321 : Suckers
(photo by Victoria Jacob) We spoke to the awesome Suckers about writing anthems over at our NME blog. Here Pan from the band tells us about eating avocado pits, the Chordettes and what rhymes with purple. Suckers - It Get Your Body Movin' (Alternate version) [mp3] 3 FACTS Pan: "1. Brian ate an entire avocado pit once. After realizing that it wasn't a nut (or a piece of sausage) he continued to eat the whole thing only not to offend the chef who had made the guacamole dip "2. The last job I quit, my employer threw a Starbucks Frappuccino at me. "3. Did you know that no word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver or purple?" 2 SONGS P: "Tears For Fears - Head Over Heels... One of my absolute favorite songs. This is one of those songs that can automatically changed my mood whenever it comes on. Anytime I hear it, it just makes me feel really cool. It also invokes this certain sense of nostalgia... certain songs can do that... even if they're not nostalgic at all. My favorite part is at the 1:53 second mark where he finishes playing the keyboard and yells "Yeah!"." Tears For Fears - Head Over Heals [mp3] "Mr Sandman - The Chordettes... One thing I really love about Oldies and Doo-Wop is the use of voice as an instrument and this is a perfect example. The harmonies these 4 girls voices make sound better to me than anything! ...and the instrumentation is so simple it's almost ridiculous... You can't get the melody out of your head... it's a perfect pop song." The Chordettes - Mr Sandman 1 WISH P: "I wish for 100 wishes..." Suckers debut self-titled EP is out now on IAMSOUND, produced by Anand Wilder of Yeasayer. They have shows coming up with MGMT, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and others. Posted by: Scott 28/04/09 |
