Nutcrackers

We spent yesterday tutu-clad, on points and pirouetting because ballet is back, bitches. Last year the kids of North Haven Community School staged a ballet based on Deerhoof’s 2004 album, Milk Man and their tiny trendsetting ways have spread across the globe. The Berlin Staatballet has collaborated with Âme, Luke Slater and Luciano to create a techno ballet called Shut Up And Dance [Germans are awesome]; Twinkle-toed Joni Mitchell is pulling on her pumps; even Big Boi - the besuited, bulldog-breeding half of Outkast- is going to demonstrate his light, springing quality.

Âme - Fiori [mp3] [Buy]

It has nothing to do with ballet and it's unlikely to keep you quiet, but this beautifully structured remix from Hot Chip will certainly get you dancing.

Junior Boys - In The Morning (Hot Chip Remix) [mp3] [Buy]

And here are some Prince-sampling proto-breaks from 1991. The Ragga Twins (The excellently named Flinty Badman and Deman Rocker) were signed to one of our favourite ever labels, the pioneering Shut Up & Dance Records. We'll post more from them soon.
