Our occasional buffet of interview leftovers continues with the lovely Goldilocks. Hailing from the home of Kate Moss, scrunchies and dubstep, you're more likely to find Sarah Louise Akwisombe blowing up bassbins than burgling the bear fam. She's produced tracks for Tinchy Stryder and Kate Nash, and remixes for Mutya and Example. Her debut single Wasteman (featuring Boy Better Know’s Frisco) and will be out on Locked On in October.
Here she tells us about making beats and her talented pals...
"Men have been dominating the rap/urban market for a while, but nowadays it's a lot more common and accepted for women to get into beat making, engineering etc. So we have a lot more confidence. Once a couple of people do it and do it well, a whole load of others come through because there is a path for them. I was at music college studying how to make beats and as a final project we were asked to hand in some finished songs. I wanted to put vocals on them but everyone I had given my songs to write on were confused by the style. I just ended up recording some silly things at home, and everyone seemed to like it. My influences come form everywhere: things that happen to me on a daily
basis, living in Croydon, old school west coast hip-hop, grime and 80s cheese."

"I really like Kate Nash, she has amazing lyrics and such a good personality. We have worked together before and also share the same manager. I also love Miss OddKidd, I have made a couple of tunes with her, and also Cock N Bull Kid- she has an amazing voice and does these crazy harmonies. Lele Speaks is a new rapper and a friend of mine. She comes from Croydon as well. She has a really dry sense of humour and writes about things like teenage pregnancy and how she hates uni kids. She’s so funny."
